we need to talk about Chad Michael Murray
👩⚖️ the verdict is in: Chad Michael Murray summer has begun. At what point do we offer him Canadian citizenship?

Has anyone asked Chad Michael Murray if his back is okay?
He's carrying Canadian television with the steamiest season of Sullivan’s Crossing yet, a steady stream of millennial marketing campaigns, and is soon to own the summer box office with sure-to-be-blockbuster Freakier Friday in theatres this August.
Maybe it’s a recession economy indicator that nostalgia is so back — but if it is, I don’t care. It gave us the Chad Michael Murray 2025 Renaissance, and I’m so here for it.
It all started on Mother’s Day, which was almost ruined when Sullivan’s Crossing confirmed that Cal’s full name is, in fact, California.
This is a fact I’m sure book readers knew, but I, who nary finishes a book before watching the show, lived in beautiful, blissful, peaceful ignorance about.
Until the worst happened, and they kept this fact faithful to the books. Hey writers room: of all the book-to-screen changes you made, this was the one detail worth saving? Mhmm. Moving on…
Disney must have anticipated we needed saving, and so they gifted us with a new Freakier Friday promo that simply let Chad be… Chad:
But what’s that around his neck?? Nova Scotia tartan?? California, is that you??
Notably, there is a Murray tartan Chad could wear — but no, this is straight up Nova Scotia representation. I’m swooning.
BUT THEN, not 24 hours later, Crush Canada came out swinging bringing our crush back (with zero sugar!)
(make sure to look through the likes on that post 😱)
But then… my inbox dinged. Magic unfolded. And even though I have not been asked or paid to share this video here, I can’t tell this story and NOT include this:
Because friends, I got to live my Hillary Duff dreams and contribute to the Chad Michael Murray renaissance. WHAT.
I have been holding myself back from screaming this from the rooftops. What do you MEAN I got to promote my favourite product of the 2000’s with THE 2000’s heartthrob himself???
SO: May I present to you… 🥁
This is what dreams are made of. The dreams of 2000’s Liz who watched Cinderella Story and Freaky Friday on Blockbuster rentals, and the dreams of 2025 Liz who now writes about Sullivan’s Crossing every week…
Thank you, Chad. For bringing back the 2000’s nostalgia. For being the leading man of Canadian television. For bringing back romcoms to the big screen!
There’s one more secret to close this chapter of our story. You’ll hear all about it later this week. Promise, it’s worth the crushing wait 🧡
